  • Togs, towels, sunglasses, lots of sunscreen, sand shoes or sandals, beach towel and wide brimmed hat
  • Cameras and your favourite CDs and DVDs
  • It’s a good idea to write yourself a check list to make sure all of your important stuff is covered.

About Insurance

Please read the ‘security bond’ section on the booking terms and conditions page about your security bond.

We strongly recommend you also consider separate holiday or travel insurance as provided by most major insurers.

Fuel use

The other cost to allow for in your charter costs is fuel and gas.

Our boats are full of fuel for the engines and the dinghy as well as gas for hot water, stove and BBQ. Use of these ‘consumables’ is governed by the number of hours that you run the main engines of your boat.

Upon your return, we check the engine hours used and issue you with an invoice for the fuel used based on engine hours.

As a guide, allow about two engine hours per day charged at:

  • Catamarans (Ruby, Cattitude, Morpheus, Orla, Velella, Magnetic) – $27.50 per engine hour
  • Motor Cruisers (MoonDancer) – $35.00 per engine hour
  • Motor Cruisers (Intrepid, Sounds Unique) – $40.00 per engine hour
  • Motor Cruisers (Marga) – TBA

Paying for your charter

Deposit

We require a $500.00 deposit to confirm your booking.
The balance of your charter is required 60 days before departure.

Payment

Payment can be made by Bank Deposit, Cheque, Cash or Visa/Mastercard.

Cancellation Fee

A fee to 20% of the full charter cost is forfeited if a booking is cancelled to cover our lost charter income.

We will endeavour to re-book the vessel and, if successful, we will refund your cancellation fee less a $250.00 outlays fee.

Local accommodation

If it is available, you are more then welcome to sleep on your boat the night before your charter begins or after it finishes (depending on when you arrive in town) but Hervey Bay has a range of accommodation from budget to 5 star.

Fraser Coast Tourism is a good start for finding accommodation.

Mobile phones and radios

All of our vessels are equipped with Marine two-way radios for communication. Mobile phone reception is dependent on where you are in the area. Do not rely on it.

Sailing experience

You do not require a licence to charter one of our cruisers. Previous experience is an enormous advantage but, if you haven’t sailed before, talk to us about it and we may be able to help you through.

We thoroughly brief you before you set out and are on hand to help you with all aspects of skippering during your time with us. Navigation in area is visual (if you can see it, don’t run over it). Each vessel is fully supplied with area charts and we are on call for 24 hour radio contact with ship-to-shore Marine communication radios.
